From homelessness to housing solutions: Meet the founder helping Australians achieve financial independence with a social impact
Ramsey Property Wealth’s Ewan Ramsey educates investors on achieving their financial aspirations while fulfilling his mission to create lasting social change amidst the housing crisis.
BRANDVOICE – SPECIAL FEATURE

Ewan Ramsey was on his honeymoon in Bali in 2019 when it all clicked into place. He’d forged a stellar career in the banking sector while building a personal property portfolio to ensure long-term financial independence. By all accounts, he was living a very successful life.
Yet something was missing.
Ewan Ramsey’s story isn’t one of privilege but of perseverance, resilience, and purpose.
Growing up in a housing commission on New Zealand’s South Island, he witnessed first-hand those around him struggle to make ends meet. Kicked out of home at 14, with only a plastic bag of belongings, he hit rock bottom.
Sleeping on a park bench at such a young age, Ramsey faced one of life’s defining moments: surrender to circumstance or forge a new path. He chose the latter. Determined never to experience that kind of vulnerability again, Ewan immersed himself in financial literacy and wealth-building, committing to creating a life of security and opportunity.
It would also become a catalyst for his life’s purpose.
Making the move to Australia became his fresh start. Securing a role at a bank in Cairns and saving relentlessly, he took his first steps into property investment.
In the popular corporate management book Good to Great, Jim Collins writes that ‘greatness can be found at the intersection of what you are deeply passionate about, what you can be best in the world at, and what best drives your economic engine’.
The missing piece
Reading those words while on honeymoon, Ramsey saw with absolute clarity how everything he had experienced in life – the good, the bad, the ugly, as he puts it – had given him his own unique formula for greatness.
He had found the missing piece.
While he could appreciate his personal situation – newly married and professionally successful – it struck him that his true passion was putting more roofs over heads to create stability for others – Pay it forward.
This ultimately was his blueprint for transformation. It changed his definition of success. Property investment wasn’t just about building generational wealth for his family; it was about helping others secure their financial futures through property while leaving a lasting social impact.
“I recognised that I have a unique ability and position to change somebody’s life. That would’ve helped me a long time ago,” says Ramsey.
And so, Ramsey Property Wealth was born. A multi-industry, multi-award-winning property investment and advisory firm with a portfolio of $378 million in net wealth under supervision, Ramsey Property Wealth has an unwavering commitment to altruistic advice and duty-bound service.
It uses a holistic, structured and data-driven approach to help time-poor professionals, business owners, and high-income individuals build sustainable property wealth – while helping to address Australia’s rental supply crisis.
Pioneering a new model for property investors

With Ramsey at the helm, Ramsey Property Wealth is pioneering a model where investors can simultaneously create financial freedom and social impact.
At the heart of the model is education.
Having personally amassed a property portfolio of $10.85 million within 10 years, including coordinating his own multi-developments, Ramsey shares everything he knows with his clients. He is also a regular keynote speaker.
“Knowledge is absolutely key,” says Ramsey. “Knowledge equals confidence; and confidence equals execution.
“Whether you’re a first-time investor or already have a growing portfolio of property investments, you need a dedicated team of experts in your corner that can take you from A to Z,” he says.
“Property investment isn’t one size fits all. You need macro and micro data analysis, the correct debt structure strategy, and portfolio modelling to identify the right properties in the right locations to fit your performance criteria.
“Planned by a team who live and breathe property, deliver unbiased advice for your situation and who are held accountable to performance.”
Who’s paying?
Knowing how your advisers are paid is also important. Ramsey says you want to work with a consultancy you pay to act in your best interests. “Cheap or free advice generally means someone else is paying your adviser, so there is the risk that your next investment is in their best interests – not necessarily yours.”
Ramsey and his team are committed to doing things differently.
An example lies within running their own developments, with Ramsey Property Wealth investing its own money until they’re comfortable bringing it to clients, knowing they’re not exposing them to risks outside their individual risk profiles.
Ramsey Property Wealth operates across four integrated divisions to ensure seamless execution of property investment strategies: Property Portfolio Planning, Mortgage Advisory and Debt Structuring, Property Acquisition, and Client Success – which is focused on the company’s core values of trust, professionalism, transparency, unbiased advice and a holistic approach.
Listening to Ewan speak about his team’s work with clients and the energy he brings to finding win-win solutions to Australia’s housing crisis, it’s clear how strong of an advocate he is for investors.
For example, he bristles at the term ‘wealthy landlord’, “The narrative needs to change– investors are actually rental accommodation providers.”
Multiple factors have led to a national housing crisis where a limited supply of affordable housing fails to meet rising demand.

Ramsey says investors can play a vital role in the solution, providing stable, high-quality rental accommodation for Australians.
“An investor’s portfolio of 10 properties, each having four rooms, could provide around 40 rooms per night available to rent,” Ramsey says.
Under Ramsey Property Wealth’s guidance, investors are also innovating, and creating modern and forward-thinking housing designs.
Exciting new approaches include multi-generational housing designs, with more than one family under one roof, as well as rooming house accommodation, NDIS, granny flats and small sub-divisions.
In other words, property investments are not just about financial gain; they’re also about responsibility, sustainability and long-term social impact.
As Ramsey Property Wealth continues to drive a movement towards ethical, sustainable, and impactful property investment, it’s not lost on Ramsey that he and his clients are helping people like his teenage self.
“I’ve had that moment a couple of times recently where it’s just been – wow – life’s just done a full circle.”
