From the ground up: How Velcorp Aluminium became a national success

Forbes Member Profile

Ivan Srbinoski is obsessed with quality: of product, of teams, of systems. After being “taught how to work” in a UNESCO Heritage City, the Melbourne-based entrepreneur is bringing Southeast European class to Australian construction projects.

“Most of the wins happen quietly.”

This humble mantra defines Ivan Srbinoski, a Melbourne-based entrepreneur who has built Velcorp Aluminium into a national force in high-performance construction systems. But the aluminium business is only the beginning for the 27-year-old.

Born in Canberra and raised through his formative years in Ohrid, North Macedonia, a UNESCO Heritage City. “Ohrid’s beautiful,” says Srbinoski. “It’s godly.” A lineage of builders and business owners shaped Srbinoski. “My father and grandfather were serial entrepreneurs,” he reflects. “They taught me how to work. Not with noise. With consistency.”

That blend of heritage and discipline followed Srbinoski back to Melbourne, where he earned a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Applied Finance, and a Diploma in Building and  Construction. It was this hybrid, the builder’s eye and the strategist’s mind, that laid the foundation for what would become Velcorp Aluminium.

THE BIRTH OF VELCORP ALUMINIUM

In 2019, Srbinoski co-founded Velcorp Aluminium with longtime collaborator Jeremi Roy Peters. The business began as a response to a gap in the market: quality aluminium window and door systems that weren’t just compliant, but overcompliant by default.

From day one, Srbinoski and Peters made a bold bet: single-glazing would decline, and energy efficiency would lead the market, a prediction that proved prophetic. Today, it’s a regulation.

Velcorp now manufactures and supplies thermally broken, double- and triple-glazed systems to a growing portfolio of commercial and residential projects across Australia. Their partnerships with premium builders, architects, and developers are built through trust and proven outcomes, not flashy branding.

SCALING GRADUALLY, NATIONALLY

Velcorp has scaled from a local Melbourne-based operation to a national supplier, importing world-class profile systems and engineering thermal solutions for Australia’s diverse climate zones. In doing this, Velcorp has stayed ahead of every code update under NatHERS, WERS, and Section J of the NCC.

“Our reputation has been built project by project,” says Srbinoski. “The fact that the builders and architects come back to us again and again, that’s something I never take for granted.”

Velcorp has also benefited from a strategic alignment with Ausforge Steel, allowing Velcorp to deliver full lock-up packages: light-gauge steel framing combined with high-performance aluminium façade systems.

“Builders want seamless execution,” says Srbinoski. “We give them one solution, not ten suppliers.”

BUILT FOR TOUGH TIMES

Part of Srbinoski’s resilience, and by extension, Velcorp’s, stems from the challenges faced during the pandemic years.

“Velcorp was built through a lot of turbulent times,” says Srbinoski. “It was built through COVID. It was built through interest rate hikes and interest rate drops.”

As a result, Velcorp has remained lean and scalable, and Srbinoski dedicates himself fully to every project, focusing on endurance above all else. Whether it’s a 20-townhouse project in suburban Victoria or a 500-home multi-phase development backed by institutional funding, the approach is the same: precision and sustainability.

“I’m interested in being essential,” says Srbinoski. “In systems, in construction, and energy.”

EVOLVING AND ADVANCING

While Velcorp Aluminium continues to expand its footprint across Australia, Srbinoski remains focused on refining the core, with a view to the future.

Behind the scenes, Srbinoski is investing in technology, automation, and partnerships that will shape the next decade of building. From streamlining project timelines to reducing waste on-site, his vision is to future-proof the construction experience.

“Everything I’m doing today is part of a 10-year play,” says Srbinoski. “I stay focused on product, team, and systems. The rest will follow.”
