Well-timed to capitalise on summer in the northern hemisphere, and an explosion of interest in Odyssey-inspired destination travel, Four Seasons has just unveiled its sophomore property in Greece — on the island of Mykonos.
The property, masterminded by Greek modernist Nikos Valsamakis, sits high above the hillsides of Kalo Livadi bay, unfurling across 15 acres in the warren-like layout of an ancient Mykonian village. In keeping with the eponymous hotel group’s proven expertise – honed at properties around the world ranging from Hong Kong to Langkawi – Four Seasons Mykonos combines varied dining, curated cultural experiences, and a serene design language, against the backdrop of an iconic setting.
Rainer Stampfer, Four Seasons President of Global Operations, describes it as “a new expression of luxury on one of the Mediterranean’s most iconic islands”: one which combines the “warmth of Greek hospitality” and “personalised service” that is so integral to Four Seasons’ DNA.
The setting atop Kalo Livadi means that Four Seasons Mykonos is insulated from the cacophony of nightlife and day clubs which account for much of the island’s seasonal tourism, but the group was strategic about selecting a location that still facilitates exploration – should guests tire of the hotel’s private beaches and multiple infinity pools. Chora, home to Mykonos Airport and the town’s largest urban centre, is a 20-minute drive away.
The goal, as Ryan Grande, the property’s general manager, explains is to offer “the best of both worlds”. “Guests can choose to unwind or explore the energy of the island at their own pace.” Guests arriving after a lengthy, international flight will find no shortage of on-site attractions, including a roster of four restaurants and bars, and a seven-room spa set among the property’s perfumed mastic gardens.
No doubt, well-heeled travellers will be primed to expect state-of-the-art fitness and thermal relaxation facilities, but the hotel enhances this part of its on-site offering with Kalo Livadi’s blockbuster setting. Both the hotel’s yoga and spinning studios, by way of example, are situated outdoors so as to enable panoramic views of the Aegean Sea.
Of course, Mykonos’ reputation as an idyll for relaxation is tempered by its proximity to some of the Western world’s oldest monuments. The local Four Seasons chapter offers a range of curated experiences: a blend of sightseeing, learning, and hands-on exploration. Horseback riding and guided village tours are par for the course, but for history buffs, the hotel runs day trips between Rhenia and the UNESCO-listed site of Delos — according to legend, the birthplace of the Olympian god Apollo.
Bookings for Four Seasons Mykonos are now open. The property’s relative proximity to the Greek mainland also means that, for guests interested in an extended itinerary, a stay here can be combined with nights at Astir Palace: the group’s inaugural Greek property, and (more importantly) the only Athens hotel accorded ‘5 stars’ in the 2026 Forbes Travel Guide.
