Billionaires Andrew “Twiggy” Forrest and his wife Nicola Forrest have confirmed in a statement that they have separated and are living apart after more than three decades of marriage.

Mining magnate Andrew Forrest was ranked by Forbes Australia as the country’s second richest person in 2023 with an estimated wealth of $US21.7 billion. The majority of his wealth comes from his Iron ore powerhouse, Fortescue Metals Group, and he has spent a vast amount of time and money now investing in renewable energy. The couple also run Minderoo and Tattarang and are among the country’s most prolific philanthropists.

“After 31 years of marriage, we have made the decision to live apart,” the statement said.

“Our friendship and commitment to our family remains strong.”

“There is no impact on the operations, control or direction of Fortescue, Minderoo or Tattarang.
