AirTrunk’s Malaysian expansion comes after announcing the proposed acquisition of Lumina CloudInfra, which has 600 megawatts of data center projects in India and a development potential of up to $5 billion.
Data centre investments are surging in India, fuelled by rapid growth in AI and cloud computing. The country’s capacity is expected to rise more than fivefold to 10 gigawatts by 2030 from about 1.5 gigawatts last year, according to consulting firm Deloitte.
Sydney-founded global data centre company AirTrunk is now officially a part of finance behemoth Blackstone in the largest transaction in Australia this year.
Blackstone confirms to Forbes Australia it sealed a deal today to acquire Australian unicorn AirTrunk. The Canada Pension Plan Investment Board also participated in the deal.
