Watches and Wonders is set to begin April 14 with a record 65 brands participating.

The annual fair, held in Geneva—the center of the Swiss watch industry—was initially expected to draw about 60,000 visitors, including 1,700 journalists and more than 6,000 retailers. Those numbers, however, may be tempered by the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, which has disrupted air travel in the region.

Despite geopolitical tensions and a sharp rise in oil prices, shipments of Swiss watches rose 9% to CHF 2.17 billion ($2.74 billion) in February, according to the Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry, with growth led by the United States, France and Japan.

What follows are some of the first releases from a range of independent watchmakers, each offering a distinct perspective on horology—often combining traditional artisanal techniques with innovations in materials and mechanics.

Arnold & Son Ultrathin Tourbillon Red Gold or Platinum, Onyx Edition

Arnold & Son Ultrathin Tourbillon in red gold, Onyx Edition (Arnold & Son)

The 41.5mm case, with softly rounded contours, is offered in 18k 5N red gold or 950 platinum. A slim bezel frames a sapphire crystal, revealing a generously proportioned onyx dial.

At just 2.97mm thick, the in-house A&S8300 manual-winding caliber is among the thinnest of its kind. Visible through the sapphire caseback, the movement showcases refined finishing, including Côtes de Genève, chamfering, and snailing on the twin-barrel ratchet wheels, along with polished, blued, and chamfered screws. The flying tourbillon bridge, crafted in 3N yellow gold, is hand-engraved with plant motifs inspired by those found on John Arnold’s historic pocket watches.

Arnold & Son has reworked several components of the caliber, including the integration of a variable-inertia balance, refinements to the regulating organ, and modifications to the tourbillon cage. These updates increase the power reserve to 100 hours.

Limited to eight pieces in each metal.

Charriol In-House Caliber C03—Automatic Skeleton

Charriol, which collaborates with Swiss movement specialists including Renaud & Papi, Frédéric Piguet and Soprod, introduces three new calibers—C01, C02, and C03—for its Navigator Collection.

All three operate at 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz), measure 25.6mm in diameter, feature the Charriol “C” monogram, and offer a 42-hour power reserve.

The C03’s openworked architecture reveals extensive hand-finishing, including beveling, rhodium-plated bridges, and perlage. Its skeletonized oscillating weight is engraved with the Charriol “C,” underscoring the movement’s mechanical transparency.

Chronoswiss Neo Digiteur Chronos (top image)

Blending high art with mechanical ingenuity, this timepiece features a 48mm by 30mm rectangular case in 5N gold, hand-engraved at the Chronoswiss atelier in Lucerne. The sculptural engraving depicts Chronos, the Greek god of time. Being hand engraved ensures that no two cases are identical.

Time is displayed via a digital regulator, without traditional hands. Three apertures—jumping hours, sweeping minutes and sweeping seconds—are integrated into the engraving.

Powering the watch is the manual-wound in-house Caliber C.85757, named after the postal code of the brand’s first workshop, founded in 1983. Operating at 3 Hz with a 48-hour power reserve, the movement is visible through the sapphire caseback, where bridges and wheels feature hand-guilloché decoration.

Limited to 33 pieces.

The Credor Goldfeather Tourbillon Engraved Limited Edition: GBCF997 (Credo)

Credor, the high-end division of Seiko, makes its debut at Watches and Wonders, bringing its deeply rooted expertise in Japanese artisanal techniques to an international audience.

Among its introductions is a new Goldfeather Tourbillon, featuring intricate linear engravings across both dial and movement. The dial’s satin-like texture is achieved through a meticulous grinding technique, radiating outward to create what the brand describes as a “feather-like softness.” A thin plating enhances both appearance and durability.

Roman numerals are executed in ultra-fine linear engraving, while the minute track features nanako engraving—a traditional technique composed of precisely aligned dots, each individually formed by hand.

The Caliber 6850 tourbillon measures 25.6mm in diameter and 3.98mm thick, delivering a 60-hour power reserve. The movement and dial are housed in a platinum 950 case with a slim 8.6mm profile.

The watch is paired with a crocodile strap sourced from Leather Working Group–certified tanneries.

Limited to 25 pieces, available starting in August.

Hautlence Sphere Series 4

The Sphere Series 4 features a skeletonized dial with a spherical display that indicates jumping hours as it rotates on three axes. The display is housed within a rectangular titanium case.

The hand-wound A82 caliber powers the watch, combining spherical hours with a retrograde minute display over a 180-degree sector. The power reserve is 72 hours.

Limited to 28 pieces.

Norqain Wild ONE Skeleton X-Lite

The Norqain Wild ONE Skeleton X-Lite (Norqain)

Weighing just 45 grams, this is the lightest watch ever produced by the Swiss family-owned brand. It is powered by the new Norqain 4K manufacture caliber, a skeletonized, chronometer-certified automatic movement with a 65-hour power reserve—24 hours more than previous Norqain skeleton models.

To achieve its ultra-light construction, the brand developed more than 30 components using materials such as titanium, aluminum, Norteq carbon fiber, rubber and a proprietary composite called X-Lite, created in collaboration with Swiss materials specialist BIWI.

The watch is shock-resistant to more than 5,000 G and measures 11.95mm thick, with water resistance to 100 meters.

Design elements emphasize weight reduction, including a skeletonized dial and hands, while the strap system features interchangeable, double-layered construction for comfort and adaptability.

Limited to 200 pieces.

Ressence Type 11

The Ressence TYPE 11 (Ressence)

The Type 11 is powered by the new Ressence Werk RW-01, the Belgian brand’s first in-house movement, designed specifically for its patented Ressence Orbital Convex System (ROCS).

The Grade 5 titanium case features a pebble-like form with a domed sapphire crystal over a convex dial. Time is displayed via rotating discs—indicating hours, minutes, seconds, and power reserve—without hands or a traditional crown.

A novel power-reserve display uses ceramic micro-balls in contrasting tones to visually indicate energy levels. As the watch winds, lighter balls emerge while darker ones recede; the process reverses as power diminishes.

The RW-01 features a distinctive triangular architecture defined by two barrels and a central balance wheel, echoing the brand’s dial design. Manual winding is performed via a caseback lever.

Available in three colorways—“Pine,” “Sky,” and “Latte”—with multiple strap and bracelet options. Launching in May.

Trilobe Trente-Deux Secret Edition

Trilobe Trente-Deux Secret Edition (Trilobe)

Trilobe continues its signature approach to time display using rotating rings and fixed pointers but adds a deeply personalized element with this edition.

Each dial features a celestial map configured to a specific date, time and location chosen by the client. Belgian astronomer Jean Meeus provides the astronomical calculations, ensuring accurate star positioning.

The constellations are pad-printed in successive layers of metallic pigment, creating depth and the illusion of suspension against a lacquered dial.

The watch is powered by the in-house X-Nihilo automatic caliber, offering a 42-hour power reserve and driving the brand’s patented three-ring display system.

Available in a 39.5mm case in either stainless steel or 18k rose gold.
