The partners, including MISC, plan to offer 2.35 ringgit for the rest of the Yinson Holdings shares, a 9.3% premium from Friday’s closing price.
“Discussions between the parties remain ongoing and further assessments are being undertaken,” Yinson Legacy said in a letter to Yinson Holdings’ board. “There can be no assurance that the discussions will lead to or result in the implementation of the proposed scheme.”
Lim, chairman of Yinson Holdings, has been in talks as early as June 2025 with several parties for a potential deal involving his shareholding in the energy company.
Yinson Holdings is among the world’s biggest operators of floating, production, storage and offloading, or FPSO vessels, which are on long-term leases to oil and gas companies in Angola, Brazil, Ghana, Nigeria, and Vietnam. In 2020, it diversified into renewable energy and now has solar plants in India and Peru.
With a net worth of $776 million, the Lim family is among the wealthiest in Malaysia. Besides their interest in Yinson Holdings, the Lims also holds a controlling stake in HI Mobility, which operates of the Causeway Link, one of the the biggest bus companies shuttling passengers across the Singapore-Malaysia causeway, considered the world’s busiest land border where more than 300,000 people pass through daily.
