Elon Musk, one of the world’s richest men, gave an insight into his Twitter ownership in a rare – and bizarre – interview with the BBC this week.

The four-time NBA MVP will no longer have a blue check on Elon Musk’s Twitter after the company axes its legacy verification program Saturday.

Labs have been “locked in an out-of-control race to develop and deploy ever more powerful digital minds that no one—not even their creators—can understand, predict, or reliably control,” said an open letter signed by the likes of Apple cofounder Steve Wozniak and politician Andrew Yang.

Musk said he “forgot to mention” the major exception to a new policy he announced Monday to only promote For You recommendations from verified accounts—soon to only include Twitter Blue subscribers, according to the company.

Musk suggested a fired Twitter worker, who has muscular dystrophy, did not need requested disability accommodations and did “no actual work.”

Users have been left unable to post images while external links are not working and companion apps like TweetDeck have failed.

Sunday’s layoffs included senior staffers who were seen as Musk loyalists, including Esther Crawford, head of subscription service Twitter Blue.

Just three months ago, Musk said the company was on the verge of bankruptcy.
