Sigma Healthcare—which counts Australian billionaire brothers Jack and Sam Gance and their business partner Mario Verrochi its biggest shareholders—is entering the U.K. market by partnering with London-based Greenlight Healthcare Ltd.

Under a preliminary agreement, Sigma Healthcare will license the Chemist Warehouse brand and provide inventory management and marketing support to Greenlight’s 22 stores across London. GreenLight will provide dispensary and professional services requirements and back office support.

“International expansion is one of four key strategic growth pillars,” Vikesh Ramsunder, CEO of Sigma, said in a statement. “The joint venture with GreenLight now provides a measured market access to the U.K.”

As part of the deal, Sigma is also acquiring a 75% stake in some of GreenLight’s stores. Up to five GreenLight stores will be rebranded and developed under the joint venture’s first phase with the option to include more stores if proven successful, according to Sigma.

Chemist Warehouse merged with Sigma Healthcare in February 2025, creating a drugstore chain behemoth with a market cap of over $24 billion. It is Australia’s largest drugstore chain with 553 stores across 412 cities. The company also has operations in China, Dubai, Ireland and New Zealand.

Australian billionaire brothers Jack and Sam Gance started their first drugstore in 1972 and partnered with Mario Verrochi to establish the Chemist Warehouse pharmacy chain in 1995.

With a net real-time net worth of $5.9 billion, Verrochi is among Australia’s richest tycoons, according to Forbes’ data. Jack Gance has a real-time net worth of $3.7 billion, while his younger brother Sam has a real-time net worth of $3.4 billion.
