Omega combines James Bond and Spectre in new Seamaster collection

Watches

For the first time in its 30-year partnership with the James Bond film franchise, Omega is combining its Bond and Spectre timepieces into a single collection.

The new collection comprises six Seamaster Diver 300M timepieces. Three feature the James Bond symbol and three carry the Spectre emblem. All share a 42mm case, Omega’s NAIAD Lock system for the caseback and the same movement. Each is water-resistant to 300 meters (nearly 1,000 feet).

While they share a common foundation, Omega says distinctive details give each model its own identity.

Two stainless-steel editions are available individually, one dedicated to James Bond and the other to Spectre. Two limited-edition sets, also one for each theme, pair a stainless-steel watch with a platinum-gold model. Each watch carries its respective emblem on the rotor: the iconic gun-barrel decoration on the James Bond models and the Spectre Octopus-like logo on the Spectre models.

This is the first Omega Spectre watch since the Seamaster 300 “Spectre” Limited Edition in 2015. The prior watch coincided with the release of Spectre the movie. It was not associated with Bond’s nemesis, the fictional global criminal and terrorist organization, Spectre, nor any of its characters.

For this launch, the James Bond and Spectre watches are not tied to any of the Bond franchise films. In addition, Omega considers the new Spectre a “villain” watch, directly related to the Spectre organization.

“Omega has been the watch of James Bond for more than thirty years, and this is the first time we have brought James Bond and Spectre together in a collection,” said Raynald Aeschlimann, Omega president and CEO. “Both belong to the same story, and our customers have always known both sides of it. Now they can wear both.”

The James Bond edition (ref. 210.30.42.20.03.004) features a Grade 5 titanium unidirectional bezel ring and a blue aluminum dial laser-engraved with a wave pattern. A rhodium-plated gun-barrel decoration forms part of the rotor, visible through a flat sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment.

The Spectre edition (ref. 210.30.42.20.01.023) has a black ceramic unidirectional bezel ring and a blackened, grained dial. A blackened Spectre logo decoration forms part of the rotor, also visible through the sapphire crystal.

Both watches are fitted with a brushed-mesh bracelet.

Omega Seamaster Diver 300M Limited Edition Sets

The two limited-edition sets, one for James Bond and one for Spectre, are issued in 77 numbered sets. Each set contains a stainless-steel model on a brushed-mesh bracelet and a platinum-gold model on a leather strap. Neither watch is available separately.

The stainless-steel models carry their individual limited-edition numbers on a plate at 9 o’clock. Their casebacks feature Omega’s wave-edged design with a polished-brushed finish and are secured by the NAIAD Lock. The James Bond steel model is ref. 210.30.42.20.03.005, while the Spectre steel model is ref. 210.30.42.20.01.029.

The platinum-gold models feature polished ceramic bezel rings with diving scales in platinum. Their dials are crafted from 18k white gold with a PVD gradient: blue with a gun-barrel pattern for James Bond (ref. 210.83.42.20.03.001) and dark gray with an octopus motif for Spectre (ref. 210.83.42.20.01.001). On both models, the rotor emblem is executed in Omega’s proprietary 18k Moonshine Gold.

All six watches are powered by the Omega Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 8806 automatic movement, with a co-axial escapement and a 55-hour power reserve. The movement is certified as a Master Chronometer by METAS, the Swiss government’s certification body, confirming the watch’s precision, anti-magnetic resistance and durability. The watches are resistant to magnetic fields of up to 15,000 gauss. The movement features a free-sprung balance with a silicon balance spring. It has a rhodium-plated finish with Geneva waves in arabesque.

Each limited-edition set comes in a presentation box containing an additional NATO strap and strap-changing tool, cufflinks, a cord bracelet, a loupe, a leather travel pouch, a card holder and a certificate of authenticity.

In the James Bond set, the strap keepers are engraved with 007 and the travel pouch is blue. In the Spectre set, the strap keepers carry the Spectre emblem, while the cufflinks and cord bracelet feature matching Spectre details. The travel pouch is black.

The collection is available at Omega boutiques and online. The James Bond and Spectre stainless steel models retail for $8,600; while the James Bond and Spectre limited-edition sets retail for $89,800.
